CfH Lectures

This lecture is introduced by Prof. Rosi Braidotti.

For centuries, forms of European identity were built up through contrasts and oppositions, creating Others that were the objects of negative projections. Today, with waves of intra-European migration as well as large population movements from the rest of the world to the European continent, new forms of identifications with Europe are possible which imply a solidarity with Others, at the same time as multiplying and opening up European identities. This approach implies a critical reconsideration of the European past in the light of the twentieth-century postcolonial situation of the world.
