CfH Lectures

This lecture was given within the framework of the ‘Concerning the Postsecular’ initiative, realized by the Centre for the Humanities in collaboration with the Research Institute for History and Culture, the Centre for Conflict Studies, the Utrecht University School of Law and BAK (Basis voor Actuele Kunst). The project approaches the postsecular as a series of mutual engagements of secularism and religious discourses in the contemporary world. This lecture series, bringing together areas of scholarship which are often separated by disciplinary orientation, institutional divides and methodological traditions, seeks to create room for dialogue and cross-disciplinary exchanges. Special emphasis is placed on issues of political theory, Islam in Europe, ethics, human rights, gender and feminist practice, contemporary art and the traditions of liberal humanism.
