Ed Jonker Website

Prof. dr Ed Jonker is Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Art History and Senior Researcher in the Research Institute for History and Art History (OGK) – Cultural History at Utrecht University. He earned a MA in History in 1975 from Utrecht University, and a PhD (from the same university) in 1988 with a dissertation titled The Sociological Temptation. Sociology, Social-Democracy, and the Welfare State (published in Dutch). In the same year, he became Associate Professor of Historiography and Theory of History. In 2007, Jonker was extra-ordinary professor in Foundations of History Writing. His main interest is in the intersection of politics, scholarship, and culture.
